Health Select Committee
Dr James Davies MP was yesterday voted by MPs to sit on the House of Commons Health Select Committee. Dr Davies said last night, “I am very honoured to have been elected by my colleagues to sit on the Health Select Committee. I look forward to playing my part on this very important parliamentary committee. I will bring to bear my experience of working as a doctor in the NHS for the last 11 years.
There are great concerns about the performance of the NHS in Wales, which is run by the Labour Assembly Government. I hope the Select Committee will examine a number of problems facing health services right across the UK, such as recruitment and retention difficulties amongst staff – something identified by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board as a significant issue in North Wales.
Many of my constituents have expressed their concerns about NHS in Wales to me, I will ensure that these concerns are heard and expressed strongly”.
